Caffeine Free : Day 1

Filed under: General Life — Zee @ 3:10 pm

Its over for me, time and time again I’ve thought of quitting it. My habit kept getting worse and worse, at least 300mg a day sometimes going far beyond 400. I consider that to just be too much. Exception are of course zip fizz for hangovers, small decaffeinated amounts, and the weekend of PAX is allowed. I realized that I feel so much clearer and less foggy when I exercise and don’t chain drink energy drinks. In the last week I indulged in all my favorites, now I can just sit there and stare at their cold invigorating contents….

Also, here is a better list of caffeine in just about anything you would ever drink

As Good As It Gets For Now

Filed under: General Life — Zee @ 1:30 pm

I AM CURRENT EDITING THE THEME OF THE PAGE SO IF IT LOOKS LIKE HELL, IT WILL GET FIXED SOON ENOUGH

UPDATE: Leaving the theme how it is right now, I know it looks like fisher price barfed all over the page but I don’t really have a place to test themes and if I did I’m lazy. Now the reason it looks like fisher price barf is so that I can easily find these elements to edit them in the future, so stick put with the terrible looking thing for a bit. Better things are one the way!

UPDATE: I found a suitable mod to the site for adding a sidebar… look woooo awww I have two of them right now because I love sidebars (not really).  This is meant for higher res screens, otherwise things looks squished.  I’d like to make the how thing hide-able.  For the next time I suppose

Ira Glass, Host of PRI's This American Life

Radio still exists in today’s culture as much as it did in the days before television. As much, but not in the same way, always popular has been music and news. But other shows and segments don’t have the golden light like they once did. There is however one show I believe that has more power through sound than most ever will, This American Life. If you have yet to listen to This American Life hosted by Ira Glass you should. And Ira should become an inspiration for you in every detail of a story you yourself tell. This American Life hosts the most recent Episode aired each Friday for a week for free. After that you can purchase the episodes cheaply in the iTunes store. He can simply tell a story like no one else, check it out at
http://www.thislife.org/

And if your interested in story telling yourself, here is a little four part series where Ira talks about Storytelling.

Alright, april 1st (no joke) I came crashing down on a little broken off tree. you know, sticking a few inches out of the ground. anyway I came down on it right on my leg while I was wearing shorts. it tore me open down to the muscle. 16 stitches, one small infection, and few months later everything is actually looking really good. Below is the video of the incident, a some pictures taken from ER all the way to today. Sorry about the shitty quality of the photos, my camera phone was really the only thing I had available to myself. The video is actually good quality

How I got 16 stitches from The Suburban Tea Party on Vimeo.

I hope you enjoyed it.

New Job

Changes keep on changing. I quit the DVD retal store I was working at, not sure the VFS journal ever heard about it. My first experience with a minimum paying job, I learned a lot about customer service and gained a new respect for everyone out there that has to deal with customers on a daily basis. I can say it changed for me for the better in everyday life. I tend to be a lot nicer to people behind the counter, wish them luck with their long line or in one case start up a conversation about people putting things back in the wrong place. When you work in a place where every product looks almost the same, it’s annoying when people just set stuff back down in any random place they want. I’m was really good about putting things back before, but now I’m going 100% on that shit.

With the new job comes my return to the world of Information Technology. It lasted about 4 days, the name of out department changed to Information Services, really the same thing, just with a new name. We like to call it ISIT? ITIS! ahHA!. I LOVE this job so far, and I’m certain its gonna stay this way.

Tearing the crap out of the theme

I’m going to be doing a little tweaking in the near future to make room for some widgets somewhere.  This post will be updated as tasks are complete.  However you’re probably going to notice the changes before reading this.  AKA NEW THEME WARNING.

Panoramics and False Lense

Lately I’ve really been into taking pictures, tossing them into a number of different applications depending on the photo and spitting them out as panoramic with lense corrections.  The results are amazing for what can be done with a point and shoot camera, a little patience, and some learning.

Here’s one without a paticualarly great subject but gives you an idea of what can be done.  The house on far left behind the explorer and the house on the right are across the street from one another.

Another, nicer subject, still not happy because scene needed to have the trash cleaned up.

Lifehacker.com has some tutorials on how you can acheive these effects.  Search it.

Visipics

Filed under: General Life — Zee @ 1:29 pm

Visipics is saving my life right now.  You tell it where to look, like the root of your drive or more than one location and it will look through all your photos and figure out which ones are dups.  It’s actually smart and looks at the pictures to see if they’re the same.  Now it has popped up a few false positives in my search it was only on two pics that were both really blurry and taken like one second after eachother.  Besides the time saved over manualy going through all my files is more than words can express.

Show much has been happening I’ve had such little time to sit down and write about everything.  Seattle pike place pillow fight, zombie this and that, parties, making a new fire pit, my big cut, now a scar forming, a new job… my my it has been busy.

Most lately as far as art goes I’ve been really diging into a bunch of panoramic pictures taken with a normal camera then stitched together with software… using a ‘hacked‘ Cannon camera.  Pictures to come soon?
